Role: 2 x Commodity Price Risk Management Trading Analysts - Barcelona based - €40-65k
Company: Top 5 Global FMCG
Location: Barcelona (Spain)
Salary: €40-65k basic + 7.5% bonus + benefits
Key Skills: Very strong academics, analytical skills and 2 years+ Raw Materials/Commodities Purchasing OR Trading Analyst experience

World leading, top 5 FMCG seeks 2 x Commodity Price Risk Management Trading Analysts to join their Global Commodity Price & Risk Management (CPRM) / Commodity Risk Management (CRM) Research/Hedging/Risk Management/Execution team, helping to limit the company's exposure to price volatility in Soft Commodities (Sugar, Cocoa & Dairy) or Energy (Gas & Power) and Packaging (Plastics).

Based from their Global Commodity Risk Management Global HQ in Barcelona, you will work closely with a very experienced Commodity Risk Management Trading Manager, who you will support in:

  • Providing market research analysis of physical and derivative products
  • Running frequent price and volatility forecasting
  • Implementing hedging strategies through use of listed derivatives, OTC products, or proxy hedges in compliance with internal policies and hedge accounting principles
  • Working as the Assistant Manager in managing a Global Commodity spend of over €1.5Billion

Your role will be to assist the Global Commodity Risk Management Trading Manager, who you will learn from and grow into a similar role over years, in managing the businesses exposure to surges/increases in Sugar, Cocoa, Dairy, OR in Energy and Packaging. So this is not a Procurement role, it is NOT about cost savings, but managing the exposure to price volatility of these commodities through agreeing long term strategic agreements to lock in the price and give the business price certainty.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a very bright Junior Commodity Trading Analyst or Procurement Analyst/Buyer looking to develop a long term career in Commodity Price Risk Management, working for one of the largest and most prestigious global FMCGs and employers, with further international relocation opportunities if desired.

Key skills & experience sought:

  • This is a relatively junior role, and is looking for an exceptionally bright and numerate Analyst with advanced fundamental research and analysis skills, including knowledge and experience in Excel (analysis and reports) and PowerPoint
  • You will have 2 years+ commercial experience which could come from either a Commodity Trading Analytical role (could be a Risk Analyst) using your numerical and research skills OR you could come from a Raw Materials Buyer/Procurement role looking to move into Commodity Trading Risk Management
  • You will have a very strong academic track record including a numerate Bachelors degree and ideally also a Masters degree from a leading university
  • EU passport holder, or have a visa allowing you to live and work in Spain (Barcelona) without any restrictions as my client will NOT sponsor visas
