We are looking for a Buyer with a strong track record within procurement functions, Ideally you will have experience of sourcing, purchasing and expediting connectors, moulded rubber components, metalwork, gaskets and many other mechanical and electromechanical components.

Whether it be black box electronic controllers used in construction and agricultural vehicles or high end instrument displays used in prestige vehicles, we create the electronic products to meet our customers needs.

About you:

You will be part of a small, hardworking team so we are looking for someone with an excellent work ethic, a team player with a sense of humour and a willingness to "muck in" when required.

You will have the ability to take ownership of delivery and quality issues and resolve them fully and have a flexible approach when working to deadlines.

Excellent time management skills and the capability to provide solutions under pressure are key.

There will be a lot to learn quickly so you will need an aptitude to retain knowledge with regards to parts and processes.

Finally, it s important that you are an effective communicator; personable and able to form strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers

Essential Attributes:

Outstanding negotiating skills

Accuracy with a keen eye for detail

Desirable skills:

Experience of using Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar MRP systems.

Ability to read and understand technical drawings

Electronics experience would be an advantage

The role:

Working on interesting projects of innovative design for prestigious customer s .You will have the authority to influence the choice of components used to ensure a good quality and cost effective supply chain. With the autonomy to expand the role, we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and will actively seek out new suppliers and technologies, in line with the progressive nature of the business. Negotiating skills are essential to provide cost reductions and competitive quotes.

General procurement duties include:

Maintain part planning data e.g. lead times, MOQs, confirmed delivery dates and pricing

Placing purchase orders, chasing overdue deliveries and working with suppliers to resolve problems. Resolve invoice and goods-in queries in a timely manner.

Responsible for the effective day to day management of your designated components in line with the MRP system, which will include commercial off the shelf components and custom drawn parts and assemblies.

Manage the import of purchases from EU, Asia & USA with appropriate commodity codes, documentation and incoterms

We have 5 modern, purpose built buildings at our Derby site including state of the art manufacturing facilities and are in the process of building a purpose built Engineering centre to house our Engineering team. Our facilities have been recognised as being one of the most modern and well equipped electronics design, development and manufacturing plants in Europe.
