Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are recruiting a Category Buyer for a manufacturer and maintainer of Rolling Stock.
The Opportunity
As a result of an increase in work, as well as an internal promotion, CAF Rail Services are looking for a Category Buyer to join the team who can be responsible for, not just the day-to-day purchasing for the site, but defining purchasing strategy going forward as well as offering support to the materials controllers.
This role would suit somebody ambitious, looking to grow their career and not averse to going the extra mile to do it. Ideally the successful candidate would not simply report an increase in prices, but look at the data within the data and report on the wider impact to the business. Whilst the role will come with support and a degree of mentoring, the line manager used to do this job after all, there will also be a degree of autonomy for the right candidate.

Role and Responsibilities:
Responsible for ensuring material availability in stores to support fleet maintenance activities
Ability to negotiate with suppliers focusing on cost, quality, and value
Generate stock reports and order stock in a timely manner to ensure that minimum holding quantities are maintained
The Candidate
The successful candidate will have good interpersonal skills and be commercially sensitive, as their place of business will also be their client s depot.
It would also suit somebody with a Continuous Improvement mindset, who is good under pressure but can also show patience when there are delays or changes in the remit from the client.
Essentials
Experience with an ERP system
Previous experience with organising on-time deliveries,
Ability to do supplier assessments
Desirable
Operationally minded
Experience withing the an engineering sector - ability to read/interpret technical drawings
Relationship management experience
