Our client, a manufacturer, distributor, and brand owner of fast-moving consumer goods is looking for a Global Head of Inventory to join them on a permanent basis.

As a result of its rapid expansion, its increasing propensity for manufacturing, and its growing number of brands and SKU s. The value of the stock has increased significantly across the group and the board would like to introduce a robust and consistent process for appraising stock purchasing upfront and also requires an increased focus on how the group manages slow-moving and obsolete stock.

As Global Head of Inventory, you would therefore be responsible for the overall stock holding of the business, evaluating sales trends, seasonal peaks, and new lines, and working closely with Category Managers and Sales Team to ensure stock holding of fast-moving lines is optimal while identifying and facilitating the reductions of overstocks, slow-moving lines, and obsolete products.

This role is twofold, with a focus on not only finished goods inventory but also the stock holding of raw materials, components, and packaging consumed by the Manufacturing facility.

This role would ideally be suited to someone who has previous Stock Management experience, a keen eye for detail, is analytical, and has advanced experience in Excel.

With real scope to make this role your own, you will be working closely with Senior Manager to deliver a Stock Reduction plan, and implement new practices and policies across the Manufacturing Division and wider business.

Responsibilities:

  • Stock management across the group, to ensure safe yet cost-effective stock levels of raw materials and bought-in finished goods, highlighting slow-moving items to Category leaders within the business and establishing procedures for clearance.
  • Forecasting, scheduling, compiling and analysing month-on-month/year-on-year stock comparisons
  • Data Integrity across all systems including Warehouse Management, Sage (Accountancy), SlimStock and work closely with the IT department to ensure data remain accurate and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Reviewing and taking ownership of bills of materials, ensuring that the price of finished goods is true to the raw materials and components cost.
  • Ensuring that sell-out prices from the manufacturing facility to the DC are commercial and honest and that the margins reflect are accurate.

Required Competencies:

You will have proven experience in Stock Management including extensive Excel knowledge and you will be suitably analytical to take responsibility for overall stock levels, taking account of both historic seasonality and forecasted sales. You will be adaptable to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, agile environment.

Ideally, you will have experience in supply/demand planning for manufacturing (but this is an ideal, not required, competency) and ideally, you will be familiar with Sage 200, Dexterity, and Slimstock programs or similar.
