An exciting opportunity has become available within a leading manufacturing business.

You will play a pivotal role in the organisation, ensuring we have the correct stock levels and building and developing strong supplier relations You will be exceptionally organised, deliver daily stock reports and manage monthly stock takes, you will have a full overview of goods in and goods out and take full control and responsibility for the purchasing budget.

You will update to customers on any forthcoming issues with firm countermeasures. Good communication skills and good leadership skills required.

This is a fast-paced and evolving department, so be prepared to adapt well to change and suggest new improvements and ideas that will further support the growth of the business.

Responsibilities:

You will have excellent negotiating skills, with a focus on negotiating the most competitive prices and ensuring excellent supplier performance.

To ensure correct ordering pattern from suppliers in line with lead-times and ensuring Quality, Delivery and Cost

Management of the team in line with company policy

Ensure the team prepare, raise and expedite purchase orders and order schedules. In line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets. Ensuring that compliant contracts are used whenever possible.

The above includes raw material and sub-contractor goods and any other items authorised by the Purchasing Management

Forecasting where possible and sharing information with external and internal partners

Support the control and review the appropriate levels of all stock items to ensure continuity of supply to internal and external customers. Communicating any supply problems which may impact on business operations in a timely manner.

Act as an interface between suppliers and internal departments on purchasing processes.

Support in the Vendor Rating system and BSI audits

Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Experienced Team Leader or Management experience

• Experience in a Purchasing environment

• Well organised and can work autonomously

• Able to communicate effectively both internally and externally

• Organised and logical approach

• Ability to react quickly and see the implications of a course of action
