Profile - Buyer

Our client is a global leader in the design and manufacture of complex systems used around the world. They are currently looking for a Buyer to join their team.

The Buyer is responsible for managing and supporting Senior Buyers with spend categories and holding ultimate responsibility for the price, quality, and delivery of goods under that category.

Duties - Buyer

• Responsible for ensuring prices negotiated with suppliers are competitive when compared to the previous price paid, current agreements/contracts and the current climate and market.
• Working with the accounting department to ensure payments are on time for the purchased items.
• Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies to achieve excellent support on delivery and order fulfilment, achieve maximization and fulfil customer expectations on products / services.
• Instigate, support, advise and develop procurement tools and applications that strengthen the procurement process for the team and department.
• Take a holistic category management approach to spend categories, being responsible for the number of suppliers used, price, delivery performance, quality and responsiveness.
• Manage business risk to supply via risk mitigation and risk awareness.
• Develop supplier base and partnerships to create a reliable and long-term source of supply.
• Lead negotiation activities to drive and realise continuous performance improvement.
• Alignment of supplier agreements with business performance and cost objectives.
• Manage and support Senior Buyers in resourcing activities when required.
• Manage and support the department with collecting supplier compliance information for quality and auditing records.

Experience/Qualifications

• Experience working in a purchasing/procurement environment ideally with a manufacturing/engineering environment

Candidates who are currently a Buyer, Procurement Officer, Purchasing Administrator, Supply Chain Specialist, Senior Buyer and Purchasing Manager could be suitable for this role.
