About the Role:

This rapidly expanding organisation is looking for a talented individual to join one of Scotland s fastest growing science companies. You will be a key player within their Global Sourcing Team who support their customers in the UK and USA by sourcing and negotiating products from all over the world. You will be central in delivering an excellent service to our customers who are working on ground-breaking innovations, such as cancer therapy, brain degeneration and more recently the Covid-19 vaccine.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience working in procurement looking for the next step in their career. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills, experience, and knowledge in a supportive work environment that is going through an exciting period of growth.

What will you be doing?

You will manage a small team of buyers. Supporting them in their day to day and coaching and developing.

You will have a unique role which requires you to liaise with both our customers and suppliers, requiring great attention to detail and great people skills.

You will be sourcing a broad spectrum of consumables, doing whatever it takes to get a great resolution to any customer enquiry.

You will support the clients buying decisions, through in-depth questioning, evaluating and confidently suggesting the right solutions.

Making great things happen requires great influencing skills, so you will be comfortable pitching your case to suppliers and colleagues alike.

You will conduct ad-hoc negotiations to ensure that you deliver the best value to our customers.

You will work within a fast-paced environment, handling multiple customer requests which have varying levels of complexity and complete the associated administrative tasks.

What are we looking for?

Essential

Experience working in procurement

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience of working collaboratively and engaging with varying stakeholders to build great relationships.

You will enjoy working within a fast-paced environment, possess a can do attitude, with the ability to flex and perform as a strong team player.

Ability to work to deadlines, prioritise workloads and have good time management skills.

Able to succinctly present findings and solutions both verbally and through written communications.

Ability to work between the hours of 5-7pm on a rotational basis to support our customers in the USA.

Confident to challenge embedded procedures and suggest or implement improvements for change.

Desirable

Experience working in Life Science / BioTech or Biology or related degree

Experience in a line management/suprvisory or mentoring position
