If you've got experience leading the creation and implementation of procurement strategy covering IT categories, fancy working from home the majority of the time and want to work for a truly outstanding boss in a business that is cosistently recognised as being a great place to work, then this could be your lucky day!

What's on offer?

  • Base salary of circa £50,000 to £62,000
  • Car allowance of £5,500 per year or company car (EV options available including Tesla)
  • Bonus of up to 10%
  • Private medical cover
  • 6% matched pension contributions
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (can carry over/buy additional 6)
  • Remote working - you'll need to get to the office (North Birmingham area) a couple of times a month, more in the early days as you build relationships with your stakeholders.

What will you be doing?

You'll be reporting to the Procurement Director and working closely with the Chief Information Officer and other IT stakeholders to manage the procurement activities for a circa £20m spend across IT services, hardware and software.  The business is about to embark on an IT transformation programme and you'll be defining, and implementing, the procurement strategy to align with this and deliver the very best quality and service at the most cost efficient price.  There are no direct reports in this role, however you will need to be comfortable leading cross functional teams.  As well as your strategic responsibilities you'll also be doing the do as it were, leading on things like market and needs analysis, supplier identification, tender prep and analysis, contract negotiation and award, contract implementation and post implementation review/supplier performance management.  You'll have the shared resource of a procurement analyst to crunch the numbers and support with some of the admin tasks so you can focus on ultimately securing the best possible deals and making sure those suppliers shine!  Key to success in this role will be your ability to build excellent working relationships with your internal IT stakeholders as well as securing competitive commercial agreements with suppliers.

Who will you be doing it for?

You'll be joining a successful international organisation that has regularly ranked in the top 50 at nationally recognised awards for being a great place to work, as well as promoting a strong diversity & inclusion agenda.  You'll be working for an inspiring boss who has demonstrated first hand that career development and progression are very achievable here - they are really personable and fully supportive of helping their team learn, grow and develop their careers.

What do you need to bring to the table?

To be successful in this role it's expected that you'll be able to demonstrate the majority (after all none of us are perfect) of the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience of devising and implementing procurement category strategies covering a broad range of sub categories within the IT space (ideally this will include hardware, software, telecoms and outsourced services)
  • An engaging personality that allows you to build excellent working relationships with key internal stakeholders and suppliers
  • Strong evidence of successful negotiation and contracting to deliver savings/improvements without compromising on quality/service levels
  • A willingness to do the operational/tactical side of procurement as well as the strategic piece - this doesn't mean you'll be stuck doing admin, however you also won't be sat purely strategising all day!
  • MCIPS or equivalent would be advantageous

If the above sounds like the next step in your already successful career, and you’d like to learn more, apply today with a copy of your CV, LinkedIn profile or whatever you have for immediate consideration – every application is reviewed by a person, and everyone will get a response, it’s the least you deserve.
