This SME business based in Thetford are well renowned in their field manufacturing a range of bespoke products for their clients. In a nutshell their products are just really cool. The company offer 1 day a week working from home and 4 days based on site in Thetford.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets
  2. Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant engineering and program departments
  3. Provide analysis on costs, new and existing, and review cost reduction activities
  4. Identify and evaluate supply chain risk whilst developing robust risk mitigation strategies where necessary.
  5. Prepare reports and updates as and when required
  6. Review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements
  7. Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make project savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
  8. Prepare and raise purchase orders and order schedules
  9. Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships
  10. Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures during supplier negotiations and contracts award process.
  11. Conduct research for new components and suppliers and prepare supplier nominations, taking into consideration the commercial constraints relating to the relevant project.
  12. Assess and evaluate suppliers and contribute to performance reviews to ensure contract compliance
  13. Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management systems (e.g. TS 16949, ISO ).
  14. Maintains working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  1. Minimum 3 years working in procurement environment within the automotive sector
  2. ONC, A Levels, City & Guilds Level 3, BTec National Diploma Level 3 or equivalent NVQ level 3 qualification
  3. Good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding and cost breakdown
  4. Computer literate, with advanced Excel skills/abilities
