Job Details

An ambitious multinational insurance company is hiring a Procurement Manager to focus on implementing best-in-class Tools and Systems.

This role will report directly to the Head of Operations and will be responsible for supporting the procurement, property, and third-party risk functions.

At the UK level, the post holder will focus on further developing the procurement tooling strategy, ensuring procurement requirements are met.

On a global level, the post holder will ensure active participation in Group and global events, acting as a voice for the UK in projects relating to procurement tooling, and Purchase-to-Pay systems.

The role will have a key focus on working across a number of different projects with various functions (Procurement, IT, Finance, Risk, Compliance, Data Privacy) and will require strong influencing skills, drive, and the ability to distil complex information into easily digestible formats to enable decisions to be made efficiently and effectively.

The right candidate will have a broad skill set and must be comfortable with data manipulation and analysis but also with the gravitas to be able to communicate with senior, board-level stakeholders. The business is open to background and industry experience but an interest in technology would be beneficial.

This company prides itself on providing an open and supportive environment where employees are nurtured and challenged daily.

The role is open to any location within the UK and will work as part of a 6-strong team within the Operations & Reporting team, which itself sits within the UK Property, Procurement & Third-Party Risk function.

The team works with a hybrid model, spending 2 days a week in one of their many UK sites (Bristol, Birmingham, Bolton, Bournemouth, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds, Leicester, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Reading + more) with the rest spent working from home.

Key Accountabilities for the Procurement Manager (Tools & Systems) role:

  • Developing UK Procurement Tools Strategy: This strategy will support Procurement processes and priorities, with a requirement to drive a concrete action plan for data quality and Master Data Management through UK entities and alongside Group requirements
  • Alignment of Key Stakeholders with Group Tools Strategy – The continuous development, deployment and improvement of Group mandated tools must be delivered, in addition to a smooth transition between legacy tools and the new targeted procurement tools
  • Awareness of wider business toolset – Developing an understanding of the wider business toolset and where potential integrations may be required, and associated processes required as a result of these integrations
  • Process & Projects – Where projects require integration or extracts from the toolset under management, these projects will be proactively participated in, and risks and opportunities understood and escalated where required
  • Awareness and Ability to Communicate Processes Related to Toolset – Ability to understand and distil processes related to toolsets under management, as well as being able to effectively communicate how these processes may interact with others across the business

Key Skills and Experience for the Procurement Manager (Tools & Systems) role:

  • Degree (UK undergraduate degree or similar)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes (PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI, Word, Projects)
  • Strong communications skills and ability to present data in a way that speaks to stakeholders, tailor communications to varying audiences and quickly incorporate feedback and adjust accordingly
  • Good ability to listen and flexibility is a prerequisite as the scope of work can vary depending on demand and priorities
  • Keen to work in an innovative and changing environment. Not afraid of unclear and ambiguous situations where you need to invent the path to success
  • Experience in Procurement, demonstrating a clear understanding of processes and challenges
  • Capability to capture and structure large volumes of information, streamline, focus on the relevant elements, structure their analysis and translate content into action
  • Can challenge the ‘old’ way of doing things. Must be able to articulate a clear vision and turn it into tangible models and then into execution plans
  • 3 years of professional experience required in a similar role
  • Ideally, experience as a member of a procurement team
  • Experience in working in an international environment and ability to deal in a multi-cultural environment
  • Experience in a large organization

Benefits of the Procurement Manager (Tools & Systems) role:

  • £60-65,000 salary
  • Contributory pension scheme (up to 12% employer contributions)
  • Life Assurance (up to 10 x annual salary)
  • 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays
  • Other benefits and discounts
