Our client a UK's leading wholesale provider of customised book ranges to retail outlets is seeking to appoint a highly experienced Book Buyer who has the passion, creativity and commercial acumen to manage the selection and delivery of product range to a vibrant and dynamic sales channel.

Based in their Oxfordshire office and working within a team of 5, you will take responsibility for selecting and buying, a wide range of adult and children's books across the UK to produce the company's unique offering.

Your account- handling skills will need to be first class and your awareness of current/future trends in retail will be important. You will ideally be commercially well-versed in the trade publishing consumer market.

Key duties:

Identifying, recommending, and presenting titles for innovative and commercial book ranges
Inspiring publishers to bring forward the books that our client needs
Market research to achieve objectives (Bookfairs, publisher meetings, data review)
Drive the customer and companies' sales through the channel
Analyse market and customer trends
Develop exclusive and unique books

You will have a demonstrable in-depth knowledge of the book industry along with keen negotiation skills and the creative flair for developing new product lines. Consideration may be given to candidates with other industry experience who have the creative talent and retail connections to develop this role.

Reporting to, and working closely with, the Buying Director, you will have the experience which allows you to exercise initiative within the team structure. Your previous experience of managing crucial strategic relationships in addition to your strong influencing skills will play a key part in this highly commercial role.
