Buyer - Job Role:
• Management of supplier relationships, identifying and implementing individual supplier strategies
• Search out new suppliers based on safety, quality, service and competitive pricing
• Identify and ensure suppliers standards are maintained for quality, supply, competitiveness, innovation and sustainability through bench marking activity
• Responsible for overseeing the management of end to end supply chain process for all products within their supplier base
• To monitor and report on product performance where required
• To monitor and manage stock turn, ensuring optimal level of stock is held, achieving service levels and stock value targets
• Secure new materials through meticulous review of risk analysis, negotiation, capacity monitoring
• Be involved in all new product initiatives requiring supplier sourcing
• Responsible for negotiating pricing and consistent supply with suppliers
• Analyse quotations & contracts, to ensure that proposals meet with the company s standards
• Responsible for negotiating, monitoring and attaining annual rebate targets with suppliers
• Be a proactive contributor to cross-functional teams concerned with product development, process improvement and cost reduction
• To provide timely and accurate communication to the wider business with regard to range, availability or profit changes within their supplier base always ensuring production schedules are achieved
• Ensure alignment between R&D and Manufacturing on sourcing strategies
• Pro-actively seek out areas of opportunity and savings through current and new supplier base while maintaining quality standards
• Initiates projects that eliminate non-value adding activities, increase quality and service and reduce costs
• Travel may be required to supplier facilities and plant manufacturing locations
Buyer - Person Requirements:
• Purchasing, supplier negotiation and supply chain management experience
• High Degree of Computer Literacy
• Ability to work to time pressures in a fast moving and rapidly changing market
• Enjoys and can successfully operate across different divisions & levels
• High level of financial awareness and ability to interpret and analyse complex data.
• Knowledge of furniture industry/production
• Awareness and evaluation of market changes and the ability to transition these changes into comprehensive financial and sourcing plans
• Highly credible commercially minded and skilled negotiator
• Excellent Communication skills
• Strong planning and organisational skills
• Ability to develop credible and longstanding partnerships
• Highly organised, ability to make informed decisions based on researched information
