About the company

Our client is a global manufacturer and supplier within the packaging industry, within their fast-paced Supply Chain and Logistics section a role is available for an experienced Supplier Category Manager.

Supplier Category Manager - The Rewards

Salary GBP72,000 - GBP90,000 pa

5+ years of work experience in consultancy or Logistics Operations gained in a relevant shipper or 3PL environment
Knowledge of the Logistics marketplace, its development, strategic direction and the key players and capabilities
Customer service focused. Recently worked closely with key haulier partners across the European regions and has created/proven ongoing relationships with key suppliers at senior levels
Direct and recent experience of running and operating large scale RFQ s in a Logistics and Transport environment including managing and undertaking the analysis of responses, guiding decision making and presenting final solutions to key stakeholders
Previous Analytical consultancy skills gained in an FMCG or Retail environment
Decisiveness and commercial awareness + superior management and organisational skills
Commercial and Contractual awareness and the ability to work closely with central or external legal teams
Well defined negotiation skills with excellent presentation and communication skills
Proven capacity to be influential and amenable at all levels; a real TEAM player
Excellent written and spoken English Supplier Category Manager - Academic Background

Batchelor s Degree in logistics, transportation or related field Supplier Category Manager - Responsibilities

Strategic Supplier Management
Create, develop, deliver and manage a world class logistics partner / supplier strategy within the company that guarantees service and value to the business in the long term + identify new suppliers in new regions / products / capabilities to ensure the supplier base is current, forwards focussed and best in class
Develop and lead a supplier accreditation approach that ensures that the company have reliable and stable suppliers that reflect their core values
Manage KEY (Top 25) suppliers at CEO or Board level to ensure that the company maintain strategic and influential relationships across the network, including their Deep Sea relationships
Work closely with Regional Logistics Managers and Regional / Divisional Teams to create, implement and oversee the supplier performance management that includes performance measures, plus supplier interlocks and Quarterly / Annual reviews
Work closely with Commercial and Legal teams across the business to deliver commercial and contractual solutions for Logistics operations within the region
Lead supplier and technical innovation and best practice to deliver key Transport and Infrastructure projects and integrated logistics solutions across the business through Benchmarking and Continuous Improvement
Ensure the financial aspects and impact of any contract are clear to all parties. Negotiating and agreeing contracts and monitoring their progress - checking the quality of service provided and supporting escalation if required
Own Health & Safety performance of the supplier group across the European region
Drive sustainability and CSR within the supply base Procurement Responsibilities

Management of large scale RFQ approaches end to end and the SME support RFQ processes at the Divisional and Site level
Development of RFQ capability within the business overall by innovative development of tools, and workflows. Analytics, approaches, and technology to increase the value delivered and the productivity of commercial procurement across the Region as a whole
Audit and monitor the performance of RFQ s against promise + create a proactive agenda of RFQ s across the business to ensure the company maximise the opportunity and the impact of RFQ s
Monitor the heartbeat of the market and the suppliers within it to ensure that data and information is current and relevant and that the company takes advantage of all opportunities and minimises the impacts of market issues About Us
