Head of Procurement

A leading food manufacturing organisation is looking to recruit a Head of Procurement to join its rapidly expanding company.

This award-winning company is private equity backed and therefore plans massive growth trajectories over the next few years.

This company has three arms to the business covering business to customer, with 89 outlets predominately in London, and business to business, supplying a number of Michelin star restaurants and prestigious hotels.

As Head of Procurement, you will lead the procurement team of seven and work across the entirety of the group, responsible for a spend of £30 million over a range of 300 suppliers and over 1,500 ingredients and 800 packaging items.

The role requires someone that can plan and manage effectively for the future, laying down a strategy with a long-term vision.

This is an exciting time for the company which plans to grow significantly to 200+ stores internationally and needs someone that can shape, transform and lead this function through a time of significant transition.

As Head of Procurement you will be responsible for:

• Manage the full procurement process including market research, supplier intelligence, tendering, negotiation of prices and conditions and contract implementation
• Support NPD activity in sourcing new ingredients and suppliers, actively look for new innovations on the market
• Support the team in maintaining live knowledge of crops to make the best procurement decisions in line with markets and seasons
• Supplier relationship and performance management, sourcing new suppliers where appropriate to support business growth and implement differentiated supplier relationships
• Manage Capex projects, ensuring the best conditions for the business are negotiated and coordinate engineering and production teams for the commissioning of new equipment
• Lead the weekly procurement team, fuel cost-saving ideas and ways of improving procurement practices in a learning together approach
• Manage the procurement department, promote best practices and look for continuous improvement in processes and ways of working
• Lead and support the development of each individual within the team
