Senior Buyer, Indirects

Are you an ambitious procurement professional looking for your next step up the career ladder?  Our client is a global, medium-sized business providing aviation solutions and they have created a new role for a Senior Buyer, Indirects.

Reporting into, and working closely with, the Head of Indirect Procurement, you will have ownership of indirect procurement projects.  There are many categories of untapped spend and there will be the opportunity to be proactive, question and apply category planning strategies.  Some of the key spend areas are Professional Services (legal services, payroll, insurance, etc.) and IT (digital, hardware, software, etc).

You'll be engaging with C-suite stakeholders in the USA and Switzerland and there will be occasional international travel.  This role isn't about just running tenders, it's about working more strategically and applying various techniques, for example, total cost of ownership, etc.

The UK HQ is near Heathrow, but you can work remotely.  There will be some international travel a couple of times per year.

The main responsibilities include:

•    Identify opportunities to create value and implement them through data analysis, negotiation or process improvement
•    Research and analyse current and future buying trends and supply markets
•    Negotiate contracts with suppliers
•    Work closely with key stakeholders to share and implement category strategies
•    Manage supplier performance and seek improvements

Skills and experience required:

•    2 years'+ experience in a procurement role, preferably gained in a multi-cultural business
•    Experience in Indirect spend procurement
•    Inquisitive mind-set and self-starter
•    Clear and confident communication skills
