An excellent opportunity for someone looking for their next step in Buying. We are looking for a strong communicator with natural organisational skills to coordinate the full cycle of purchase orders. You will be playing a key part within a small and friendly team.
Responsibilities will include:
Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers, utilising ERP, and procurement systems
Liaise regularly with internal and external contacts
Negotiate contracts, improved prices, and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings
Ensuring orders are progressed and received within the correct timescales
Update purchase orders with responses upon receipt of delivery updates
Interfacing with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Strategic Sourcing and Suppliers to resolve quality or delivery issues
Communicate directly with Suppliers to expedite purchase orders
Represent the Purchasing Department in the weekly meetings, providing information on external shortages
Coordinate all invoice and account queries relating to purchase orders
Building of strategic partnerships with key material and service providers
Undertake research on and evaluate existing and new suppliers, coordinate, and process any New Supplier Approvals
Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible
Develop ideas and processes to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement
Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliersWhat we are looking for:
Proven purchasing experience
CIPs qualification (preferable)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and negotiate
Good IT competency, especially Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Solid administration skills
Able to work under pressure and still maintain a high level of accuracy
