ASSISTANT BUYER - RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPER

The Role:

You will be joining a strong commercial team and work under a Senior Buyer.

Some core duties include;

* Assisting with procurement of materials and plant to enable the construction of our homes

* Assist in negotiation of quotes and orders

* Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure we are their developer of choice

* Administration relating to the printing, issuing and monitoring

* Assist site teams with queries relating to orders and schedules

* Take-offs from drawings to build schedules so the correct quantity of materials can be ordered

* Send out enquiries for appropriate materials, collate and analyse quotations.

* Update and accurately maintain records and databases;

* Providing reports to site-based staff on a weekly basis;

* Entering data onto in-house computer systems;

* Archiving of completed documentation;

* Dealing with incoming Supply Chain questions/requests;

* Maintain filing systems both physical and electronic;

* Attend Site Meetings at key stages in order to review general progress on site

* Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining commercial awareness

The Applicant:

* Proven experience in administration-sub-contract procurement experience desirable;

* Computer literacy to include working knowledge of Microsoft systems, access database and procurement systems, preferably COINS;

* Good telephone manner and organisational ability;

* Excellent communicator and ability to multi-task and action concurrently;

* A team player but able to work with minimal supervision;

* You should be honest and reliable and must work well under pressure;

* Adaptable to change, approachable, conscientious and willing to accept ownership of tasks;

* Ability to deliver accurate data;

* Committed and pro-active with adherence to quality.

The ideal candidate must have:

* Experience buying within the construction industry or material wholesaler

* Strong organisational and administration skills.

It is desirable to have:

* To have worked for a Developer or Main Contractor on residential projects.
