To assist the Buyer in developing product ranges to meet sales, margin and stock targets within a specific product/category area whilst developing and maintaining strong supplier relationships and communication

Client Details

A great opportunity for an Assistant Buyer - Accessories to join a rapidly-expanding business in the Peterborough area, who sell via a number of different trading channels. As a business they buy and sell unique products across a number of different categories. This role would suit someone looking to build a career in Buying and enjoy working in a fast pace environment.

Description

* Assist the Buyer in delivering the budgeted sales, margin and stock targets for the category.

* Prepare information for product ranges/selection meetings, gather customer, supplier and competitor information, request product samples or information, competitive shopping reports and prepare product direction boards

* In collaboration with the Merchandising Assistant, ensure all Commercial Approval Forms (CAF's) are accurately and comprehensively completed to meet the deadline of live shows in line with ASA requirements.

* Supported by the Head of Buying, deputise for the Buyer, attending relevant meetings such as daily trade meetings and CAM meetings

* Liaise with key internal stakeholders such as QA, Creative and Social communicating category objectives to maximise sales.

* Alongside the Buyer, establish and develop strong relationship with new and existing suppliers

* Understand Cost of Goods and net profitability of the category and seek to identify proactive ways of enhancing net contribution

* Manage the department weekly, updating show, web ranges

* Assist the Buyer with new supplier set up, T&C'S and Supplier manuals via DocuSign.

* Assist the Buyer in producing CAM presentations for new products and suppliers.

* To enable key decision making, provide accurate product information such as pricing and analysis as requested by the Buyer

* Contribute to coaching and developing junior team members as required

* Pro-actively liaise with Merchandising to ensure the delivery of stock and sales targets and to ensure stock levels are in line with budget

* Complete for all post-meeting administration and follow-up with relevant internal and external customers

* Update systems to ensure that product range information is keyed on time and accuracy is maintained.

Profile

Experience in a fast-paced retail Buying environment, ideally at Assistant Buyer or Buying Assistant level or similar.
Demonstrate a clear and thorough understanding of the customer proposition and marketplace pricing.
Good knowledge of Buying inventory process.
Good understanding and experience of managing a critical path.
Trend awareness with a passion for product.
Excellent PC literacy, including full competency in Microsoft Excel.
Highly numerate with strong analytical skills.
Enquiring and logical to deliver practical solutions.
Strong attention to detail.
Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
Plan, prioritise and focus on the issues.
Challenge the status quo & be resilient.
Self-starter and able to work to, often tight, deadlines.Job Offer
