Well established SME business which has been in Huntingdon for many years and are thriving! Working in the Production & Procurement department reporting to the Operations Manager this is an interesting buying role.
This is an office-based role and because the team works very much as a unit, they are unable to offer Hybrid or WFH.
Purpose of role
To purchase & control required components for production and Engineering.
Monitoring stock levels in line with MPS requirements.
Vendor performance management & analysis.
Recommend changes to component LT and Suppliers to better stock holding and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Purchase stock in line with MPS &/or forecast.
Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments & customers.
Keep constant check on inventory levels to ensure they meet (but do not exceed) business needs.
Enter/update MRP system with new/revised contract price information.
Clearing imports through customs.
Identify new potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers & building / maintaining good working relationships with them.
Negotiate with suppliers, & monitor progress & ensuring quality of services meets our clients high standards.
Liaise with accounts department to resolve supplier invoice queries & account issues.
Actively seek opportunities to reduce waste (quality, cost & delivery).
Action unplanned issue forms within MRP system.
Create stock codes within MRP system.
Liaise with internal departments and suppliers on rejected parts.
Support the execution of cycle counts in the warehouse as required.
To perform other duties as required.
Experience Required
Experience working in a purchasing department.
Aptitude / Skills required
Good communication & negotiating skills.
Ability to use own initiative.
The hours: 7.30-4.30 Monday to Thursday and 7.30-12.30 on a Friday.
Benefits:
Finish early on a Friday 12.30pm.
Family fun days. Xmas shutdown.
25 days holiday for 2 years, then 27 after 2 years' service + Bank Holidays.

Contributory Pension. Over 30 years of age 4%, between 30 - 40 5% and over 40 years of age 9
