J Murphy and Sons Ltd are currently looking for a Technical Buyer to join our award-winning team. Our team is known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry. As the Technical Buyer you will report into the Materials Manager & assist the wider engineering unit.

What you will be doing:
* Act as a link between Design/Engineering/Supply Chain & Construction teams throughout project life cycle (conceptual & detailed design, pre-construction, Project delivery, handover & closeout)
* Distribution of design information creating liaison with Design Managers, Engineering Managers, Project Managers, and consultants concerning project issues, scope changes, risks etc
* Keeping up to date with the supply chain and their products creating successful delivery of product information to facilitate correct identification of equipment/plant and fittings to be incorporated into the projects overall design.
* Successful delivery of relevant information to allow procurement to obtain compliant quotes and review prior to order placement Ensuring technical/specification compliance, documentation & quality of product deliverables.
* Communication between design and potential suppliers confirming product requirements are correct and in accordance with design data sheets and industry/client specifications prior to commencement of manufacture.
* Commercial awareness: Delivering items within confines of projected budget
* Production of project documentation/schedules to track deliverables of materials.
* Understanding of the principles of prevention & Health & Safety.

Who we are looking for:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or HND or equivalent minimum is preferred but appropriate experience is also applicable
* Experience in the oil & gas industry with a focus around gas installations.
* Experienced within the manufacturing industry for gas processes would be advantageous
* A true passion and flare for technical profiling
