MRD Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a Customs Manager on behalf of our Logistics client. My client is a global leader in their respective field. This Customs Manager is based in Wakefield and reports into the Operations Manager.

My client is a leading global logistics company who help customer all over the world regardless of the size of the job.

The successful Customs Manager, based in Wakefield will primarily be responsible for ensuring AEO license, ETSF facility and Bonded Warehouse accreditations are obtained and retained on a permanent basis. Alongside the daily management and point of escalation concerning all UK Customs matters.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities for Customs Manager based in Wakefield:

  • Advise and guide management in all matters relating to the import and export of goods post Brexit, inclusive of all changes to government guidelines/instructions
  • Design the structure of the customs clearance department and implement the structure according to the anticipated workload
  • Timely and accurate clearances to the Customs in the UK
  • Advise and execute proper limited fiscal representation services in the UK
  • Monitor all Customs clearances
  • Oversee the induction and training of new team members in accordance with the applicable customs clearance procedures
  • Ensure that all necessary internal and external technical customs clearance tools, software and working practises are implemented and communicated to all parties and stakeholders involved
  • Advise our teams and customers and oversee the implementation of any agreed or required customs clearance action plans
  • Ensure you are fully up to date in relation to ongoing political negotiations and are aware of the current position between the UK and the EU
  • Implement the relevant IT packages and can compile, analyse, and interpret relevant data
  • Manage the customs clearance team, ensuring the highest level of service is provided
  • Handling VAT Note by fiscal representation
  • Ensuring each customer must have signed contract for indirect representation before performing any customs declarations
  • Ensure all HMRC related queries are responded to promptly and accurately
  • Ensure all invoicing is completed accurately and on time
  • Ensure all VAT and Import Duties owed to the company are invoiced correctly and in a timely manner
