Junior Buyer
Based in Chesterfield
Our client is a growing manufacturing company. They are looking for someone to joing their Procurement team as a Junior/Assistant Buyer.
This role will suit someone who is ambitious and has at least 2 years experience within a buying department, at a junior level
As a Junior Buyer, you will build and develop relationships with existing suppliers and conduct benchmarking activities to ensure we are getting the best goods and services at the best quality and price.
The role is highly numerical, you will need to scrutinise the numbers, understand and challenge price increases and use historical data to support this whilst maintaining administrative duties. You will have a continuous improvement approach and will apply Procurement best practice methodologies in all aspects of the role.
This role would suit a professional that has been in a buying / procurement support function looking to advance their career.
DUTIES:
• Develop and be responsible for Procurement of Indirect goods and services (from PPE to Transport etc.)
• Responsible for all relevant administration and Procurement processes (sourcing, raising PO's to invoice)
• Identify and conduct cost saving / service improvement projects
• Understand business requirements and ensure Procurement activities support them
• Liaise with relevant departments to understand requirements to aid in the sourcing of goods
• Maintain high levels of supply chain engagement and relationships
• Rationalise supplier base where appropriate
• Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies, returns and quality with suppliers
• Ensure high levels of supplier performance and involvement
• Monitor the status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all goods, including timely resolution, communication and mitigation of future potentials problems
• Monitor and review costings, contracts and applicable commodities
• Identify and deliver cost saving initiatives
• Aid in the maintenance of the Group Approved Supplier system and assessments relevant to materials
KEY SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
• Recent and relevant experience within an Assistant Buyer / Purchasing function
• Finds solutions for every problem
• IT literate with experience of MS Office, experience with MRP/ERP systems
