Senior Buyer - Mechanical
A great opportunity for an experienced Purchasing professional to join a leading manufacturing organisation as a Senior Buyer - Mechanical. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the purchasing process in a cost effective and timely manner in order to meet production schedules.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Buyer;
Analyse, prioritise and action messages generated via the MRP System, to meet Production schedule, including obtaining Quotations.
Ensure Quality, On Time Delivery and Cost performance for all assigned categories in line with set KPI Targets.
Communicate directly with suppliers to chase outstanding items highlighted via overdue reports to meet On Time Delivery Targets.
Responsible for effectively managing Supplier relationships.
Assist with negotiation and management of Supplier Contracts.
Manage Make In versus Buy Out requirements for Mechanical components, taking cost into account.
Work closely with the Quality department to help manage supplier quality.
Investigate and take corrective action to address delivery discrepancies from suppliers and any other Supplier Non-Conformances raised.
Identify and suggest new suppliers to the business where required, ensuring a thorough vetting process is undertaken.
Make recommendations to relevant stakeholders to aid Procurement decisions for assigned categories.
Liaise with internal stakeholders and ensure excellent working relationships are built and maintained.
Ensure system data integrity at all times within the MRP System.
Participation in Improvement activities within the Purchasing Team.
Personal Specification of the Senior Buyer;
Proven Purchasing / Procurement experience.
CIPS qualifications would be an advantage.
Experience within a manufacturing environment.
Experience of purchasing Mechanical Parts is essential.
Ability to read engineering drawings.
Good working knowledge of ERP / MRP systems.
Strong communication & negotiation skills
This role would be suitable for individuals with experience in Procurement, Buying, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Sales or Purchasing
