SENIOR BUYER
Senior Buyer required to successfully support the day-to-day activities of purchasing/logistics. This involves the positive administration and facilitation of direct supplier contact, purchase order placement and progress, materials management, and the involvement in all cross-functional aspects of all business operational functions.
Senior Buyer Duties and responsibilities in order of priority.
Role: -
• Develop and execute sourcing, product data management and costing strategies to deliver quality, delivery, cost, and lead-time improvements.
• Manage and support current supply base with effective two-way communication.
• Develop new suppliers including selection, approval, development, maintenance and exit processes.
• Monitoring the inventory stock levels, liaising with buyers, suppliers including the management of protected stock.
• Material planning and actioning utilising MRP.
• Supporting business targeted KPI level.
• Achieve agreed savings targets by challenging current cost base, bench-marking and tender activity as appropriate.
• Proactively challenge current procurement, data management and costing policies and processes to identify and execute continuous improvement in a controlled manner.
• To control and action, alongside production the handling of customer and supplier returns to ensure complaints are handled with speed and efficiency.
Person: -
• Ability to work accurately & quickly to meet deadlines.
• Has a strong attention to detail & accuracy whilst maintaining a high throughput of work.
• Confident in dealing with internal staff and external parties and a good communicator and listener.
• A successful problem solver who is able to balance his/her own needs, the needs of employees, and the needs of the organisation.
• Recognise that problems are a normal part of life and approach them in an effort to find solutions rather than place blame.
• Uses good analytical and problem-solving skills together with their "emotional intelligence".
Professional Qualifications / education required.
Ideally the postholder will have or be working towards a professional Procurement qualification (e.g. CIPS)
Experience required.
• Experience in MRP/purchasing activities.
• Strong computer skills (Word, Excel and Outlook as a minimum).
• Experience of AS400 system or similar.
• Demonstrated experience in procurement or supply chain role, preferably in the electrical / electronic industry.
