It is an exciting time to join us!

There has never been a better time to join us than now. Whilst Southern Water is a mature organisation, we are currently going through key transformational programmes therefore joining us will offer you windows of opportunity in this highly enterprising role.

As part of our Water for Life commitment to deliver a resilient water future for Hampshire, your role as the Commercial Manager will be critical in joining this flagship programme by seeking innovative technology and finding an approach that reduces environmental impact such as water recycling.

You will be working as part of our major projects team within the Procurement and Commercial Function at Southern Water and be responsible for completing the commercial aspects relating to the procurements as required for the programme. Being a PMO management expert with a track record of surveying within the pre and post contract phases of the project lifecycle, you will provide commercial support to stakeholders, developing the commercial strategy and providing commercial support pre-contract and post-contract award.

You will benefit from using the NEC 4 form of contracts and corporate membership of the NEC. In addition, you will have exposure to bespoke forms of contract, lump sum or target cost-based contracts for major projects. You will be involved in huge infrastructure investment with nature-based solutions, land management and customer behaviour focus all of which have an important part to play in an integrated approach.

To be successful in this role, you will hold a Degree or equivalent work experience in Quantity Surveying or similar discipline and background of working in PFI type contracts will be highly advantageous. Your demonstration of significant knowledge of contract conditions and their application will be a key contribution to the fulfilment of the role and experience within NEC will be an added benefit. You will ideally be MRICS qualified or equivalent.

Does this opportunity excite you but you’re not 100% sure if you meet all the requirements for the role? Or are you concerned that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t possible given your personal circumstances? Whilst we can’t accommodate every flexible working request, we’ll try to find a practical solution. So why not engage with us and find out more about this role?

Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, because delivering water for life is our core purpose. To achieve this, we need 24/7 support in place to resolve incidents quickly and efficiently. All our employees understand the importance of out-of-hours incident support – because when problems appear, fixing them is our top priority. That’s why our people join together and support when and however needed to make sure our customers get the service they deserve. Joining the Southern Water family means you’ll become part of our incident support team. During your interview, your manager will speak to you about any incident support rotas that apply to your position.
