This is an exciting opportunity to join us at Southern Water as a Senior Procurement & Commercial Lead within our Water for Life Hampshire programme.

Your role will be instrumental in developing & implementing robust and effective Procurement and Commercial strategies to ensure our supply chain is procured and managed efficiently and in line with relevant regulations to deliver maximum value through the Supply Chain for Southern Water and our customers.
As the Senior Procurement & Commercial Manager, you will procure and manage high value contracts, acting as an advisor and trusted expert to our specified business directorate and lead a team comprising Category & Commercial Manager.

Your key deliverables will be executing pre and post-contract processes and procedures to ensure quality assured procurement & commercial management and managing associated commercial activity to achieve value creation and minimise total cost of ownership for Southern Water. You will be setting, defining, and implementing strategies and tactics; managing conflict resolution and objection handling using your ability to influence at all levels.
This is a great opening to be part of a major infrastructure development project in the South East over the next 5-7 years with an exposure to work with senior leaders including members of the executive leadership team. You will be empowered in this leadership role with responsibility for developing and implementing the procurement & commercial strategies for major projects.

Your primary scope will be:

•Implementation and delivery of category, sourcing & commercial management strategies, as agreed with the Water for Life Hampshire Procurement and Commercial programme lead.
•Leading and managing a team of Category Managers and Commercial Managers, ensuring procurement best practices and techniques are adhered to, driving maximum value and maintaining compliance with governance framework
•Providing leadership, professional oversight and direction to the team to support the delivery of a full range of procurement & commercial/cost management services, including commercial advisory and assurance
•Utilising insight and analysis of market trends and cost drivers in categories and subcategories to identify saving opportunities; feed into purchasing category strategies to optimise value management

You will be:

• An inspiring leader with an in-depth category experience and gathering information from multiple stakeholders and analysing overall commercial performance, including the tracking of variations and resolution of commercial risks and issues
• In depth knowledge of contract forms (NEC3, I Chem E and ICE) and experience of managing contract drafting, terms and conditions, project lifecycles and commercial model
• A subject matter expert in major capital project procurement.
• Continuously driving improvement into commercial processes and procedures and supporting transformation activities
• Demonstrating experience of undertaking supply chain reviews, facilitating workshops and working with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

With a Bachelor’s degree (or similar) in Quantity Surveying or a relevant discipline, you will be an excellent leader with the ability to lead a team of experienced procurement professionals with focus and motivation to reach individual and overall team objectives. Solid experience of procurement / sourcing and / or commercial management experience, preferably in a water or utilities industry with Significant experience of Cost Management and/or Quantity Surveying for large projects and framework arrangements. It will be an added advantage if you are professionally qualified with full membership in MRICS or MCIPS.
