As part of our Water for Life commitment to commitment to deliver a resilient water future for Hampshire, your role as the Category Manager will be critical in joining this flagship programme by seeking innovative technology and finding an approach that reduces environmental impact such as water recycling.

. You will be involved in huge Infrastructure investment with nature-based solutions, land management and customer behaviour focus all of which have an important part to play in an integrated approach. Your vital work will become a fundamental contribution to the major projects team within the Procurement and Commercial Function at Southern Water!

You will be accountable for developing and implementing specific demand and category strategies, engaging with internal customers to understand requirements, volume demands, and specifications. Your support on all associated commercial activity to achieve value creation and minimise total cost of ownership, working closely with the Sourcing Manager to execute the full sourcing lifecycle and deliver against procurement and value management strategies will be highly valued towards a successful category management.

Using your expertise, you will:

• drive cost reduction through standardisation, aggregation of demand, and actions to minimise tail spend within the category and establish collaborative relationships internally and externally to align approaches
• engage Procurement early in third party spend and seek additional opportunities to maximise value.
• Continuously drive improvement programmes and translate external best practices, innovation and ideas into actionable proposals and plans for the business.

The uniqueness of this role is the opportunity to work on our current exciting projects which includes building new pipelines, use an innovative technology called water recycling to maintain levels in the reservoir for continuous supply of water and opportunity to be work on multi million-pound tenders.

With your solid experience of procurement, sourcing, commercial management experience with a Degree qualification in the relevant field, you will shape the delivery of category management with a great understanding in managing stakeholder expectations and leading the spend and supplier profiles throughout the programme lifecycle. You will ideally be MCIPS qualified or equivalent. Experience of having set up a PFI type project will be an added advantage and we are keen to hear from you to be part of this impactful journey within Southern Water.
