This is an exciting new opportunity to work for a fast-growing manufacturer of uPVC conservatories; due to continued year on year growth, the business needs a Resource Planning Manager to build and manage an efficient and effective Resource Planning Department.

Initially, your job will be to assess the current position and prepare a plan for the creation and development of the resource planning department. This will include:

  • Identifying and commissioning appropriate new software systems.
  • Developing the interface of those new software systems with existing software systems.
  • Establishing any new or modified processes that may be required.
  • Creating an organisation structure for the new resource planning department.
  • Establishing the number of new staff required and their specific skillsets.
  • Preparing costs & timeframes.

Once the plan has been agreed upon, the resource planning manager will take direct responsibility for its implementation. This will progressively evolve into managing the activities and output of the department and ensuring that it becomes the communication and planning hub of the business.

It's important to stress that whilst the resource planning manager must have relevant knowledge and experience of the types of software systems that are involved, this is not a role for a dedicated IT specialist; appropriate IT skills and training will be supplied by the software vendors, as and when required.

To be successful, you will have worked within a light manufacturing environment and have a good understanding of, and direct experience with, the following:

  • CRM and MRP systems and their interface with accounting systems.
  • Capacity and production planning processes and systems.
  • The principles and processes behind effective raw material and finished goods stock control.
  • The principles and processes behind effective raw material procurement and the interface with suppliers.
  • The principles and processes behind stock valuation in the accounts and the calculation of material used in production.

You will be a team leader, with the ability to build, manage and motivate a small team, whilst ensuring that your team becomes an effective part of the larger company team and develops sound working relationships with all other departments.

Applicants with conservatory and/or window industry experience will be of particular interest; but applications from candidates with experience in light manufacturing processes, within other industries, are also very welcome.
