Buyer/ Senior Buyer

Our client is a leading engineering distribution company and have been established over 150 years and are considered the 'first choice' for Industrial Buyers
Due to growth a position has become available for an Operational Buyer based at their Head Office in the West Midlands.
The main objective of the role is to effectively manage and optimise the operational purchasing / order fulfilment process with external suppliers for a designated category, from MRP signal to delivery of product to ensure Customer requirements are met in full.
The role will involve placing and expediting Purchase Orders /Transfer Orders in a timely manner. To pro-actively communicate with suppliers and internal customers regarding due dates, and actions to mitigate risk of late delivery. To maintain an accurate data base of supplier price files, lead times and MOQs, ensuring price, stock availability and OTIF targets are achieved. Supporting the customer tender process in a timely manner with product costings, also leveraging demand with preferred suppliers to maximise rebate returns and to support and where required, lead improvement activities in support of achieving department KPIs (PO Overdues / PO unacknowledged / NDC stock availability / OTIF / Margin
To apply you must possess previous experience working as a Buyer. You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills to help negotiations and ensure that expectations are clear. You must be able to demonstare you are adapt at relationship building and networking. You must possess financial and accounting knowledge for calculating margins, gross profit and discounts and have understanding of supply chain management and logistics.
In return you will be offered a basic salary between GBP27-32,000 dependant on experiece, pension, 25 days holiday plus stats plus the opportunity of career advancement
