Buyer - Homewares

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Buyer looking for the next step in their career to join a National Retailer for Home department

As a buyer for our Home department, you will be working on a demanding area of our business with a mixture of both import & domestic suppliers. You will be building strong core ranges as well as driving promotional activity, not only across the retail estate but our fast growing e commerce channels. Buying is key to our success, making sure that our customers get exactly what they want, exactly when they want it at affordable prices.

The Role

• As Buyer you will be driving the business to maximise sales, profit and margin.
• Sourcing and Developing product categories and items across multi channels
• Drive innovation across your product categories
• Defining the strategic direction for your categories
• Develop pricing and promotion plans
• Develop supplier base and build supplier and factory relationships
• Ensure our brand credentials are met through product and packaging development
• Manage all sample approvals
• Own the buying critical path for your product categories
• Regularly reviewing market trends and pricing to maintain our competitive edge
• Manage store feedback/customer feedback to drive improvements
• You will work closely with the merchandiser to further understand our stock holding, seasonal sales patterns and our open to buy position. You will develop an understanding the market and working closely with the merchandiser to define pricing strategy as well as identifying and managing key volume & value lines.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Good commercial acumen, good level of numeracy with a good level of Excel
• Problem Solver and ability to make quick decisions
• Keen eye for product development
• 2-3 years non-food buying experience and working with factories as well as UK suppliers
• Ability to manage ever changing and complex categories across different retail channels
• Ability to thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment
• Enthusiasm to take responsibility and progress in your career
• Not afraid to challenge the norm
• Personal skills to work with people at all levels
