At Avantor, we are looking for a Logistics & Lab Operative for our customer site, UCB, based in Slough. In this role, you will support all logistics activities, and also provide some support in the laboratory.
This role is multi-disciplinary and underpins the laboratory support operations and warehouse operations. This role, directly and indirectly, supports scientists across the UCB discovery biology department allowing scientists to concentrate on their core role.
What you'll do on a typical day:
* Receive and process stock and ad hoc deliveries ensuring storage at correct temperatures, in the correct locations
* Support the shipping of finished goods out to the end user, ensuring that the correct shipping documentation is included with consignments to ad-hoc countries
* Monitor stock consumption metrics, then ordering and replenishing stock base on demand using a SAP-based system, ensuring focus on new product lines
* Assist customers through the provision of a counter service
* Provide regular glassware and plastics collection, washing and, sterilisation services (steam, dry or filtration) for the scientists to use within the laboratories.
* Prepare of media and standard reagents as required and maintain stocks of both sterile and non-sterile consumable items within the laboratories.
What you'll need to be successful:
* Experience working in a warehousing or stores environment
* Demonstrable experience with stock/materials handling activities
* Proven excellent customer service focus and ability to work collaboratively
* Proficient in various IT systems particularly Microsoft Excel and SAP or similar stock management system experience (desirable)
