A fantastic opportunity to join an International food business with a difference. Our client is looking for a Buyer to join their successful buying division at their lovely offices in Corby, Northamptonshire due to expansion and growth.

Responsibilities

* Ensure that all buying activities are carried out in line with company strategy, policies and procedures

* Manage supply base and work with colleagues to ensure the required quality, price, and service standards are met or exceeded at all times

* Negotiate contract terms (e.g. pricing, rebates, promotional support, exclusivity etc) with the designated suppliers to achieve optimum commercial benefit and ensure that the commercial interests of the business are secured and protected

* Develop and maintain live product category plans to provide ongoing recommendations to the business that will underpin and support the execution of the wider business objectives

* In that context makes sure that all elements to 'the best price' are included, so not just price, but also relevant service and quality

* Work with Supply Chain Manager on the progressive development of the company's buying process to meet the demands of the business and our customers

* Liaise and work with other procurement managers within business to share best practices and leverage/improve local and international supply contracts

* Liaise and lead to ensure continuity of supply

* Propose and implement recommendations for income generation and/or reductions in expenditure

* Demonstrate knowledge of market and category and be the 'expert' in their field

Personal Profile

* Previous Buying experience in a similar role at either a buying or junior buyer level

* Experience of working to deliver to deadlines

* Strong and clear communication skills

* Numerate, literate, with intermediate IT skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

* Part or fully CIPS qualified

* Fluency in a second language (Chinese / Italian /especially French / Spanish) would be an advantage, as would experience in dealing with an international supply chain

* Previous experience in a food-related role with an international supply base

* Experience of project / category management

* Supplier contract negotiation and understanding

* Basic appreciation of, and, the requirement for Food Safety, Food Quality and Customer Audit Compliance
