FULL TIME AND PERMANENT / SITE BASED

Based in Livingston, ESS' client is a well-known and highly successful life sciences and medical device business. From their high volume manufacturing site in Livingston, the company supports medical and life science products in a range of markets. The business is going through unprecedented growth in terms of demand, output and new staff. As part of this period of sustained growth and aim for FDA approval, they now need to make the key hire of a Buyer.

Reporting into the Head of Operations, the Buyer will work in association with key departments and external supplies to ensure that all materials, equipment, and services are procured in line with quality and regulatory expectations, with the most favourable commercial terms, and in line with the Company procedures.

The manufacturing operations are comprised of two bacterial fermentation and bulk formulation halls respectively, two aseptic filling suites, a semi-automated product packaging department, and a goods warehouse. Your key responsibilities should include:

End to end procurement, including contract supplier management.
Purchase goods, materials, and services from approved suppliers and in line with defined Company SOPs and protocols.
Secure the most favourable terms in regards to cost, quality, guarantee of delivery, and continuity of supply.
Strategically negotiate and improve prices/terms of business with suppliers, continuously reviewing opportunities to make tangible savings and improve on commercial terms.
Manage purchase orders on the company ERP system.
Communicate and monitor any supply and/or service issues that may impact the business operations in a timely manner.
Work cross-functionally and collaboratively to improve the performance of existing suppliers and escalate as appropriate poor performance and alternative routes of supply.
Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken with all internal and external relationships.
Communicate in a consistent, structured, and professional manner.
Compile data and reports relating to supplier performance to enable evaluation.
Actively contribute to the development and maintenance of an enthusiastic, supportive and collaborative environment within the team setting. We are looking for an experienced Buyer / Procurement professional with proven volume manufacturing procurement / supply chain experience. You are ideally qualified to CIPs level 3 or better. We would be especially keen to hear from candidates who have bought consumables, speciality manufacturing products (gas/chemicals etc), equipment and services for a GMP led environment or other highly regulated industries.
