INTERIM SENIOR BUYER/CONTRACT MANAGER - NEW PRODUCT INNOVATION

"An interim role for an experienced senior buyer/contract manager to create a new procurement supply chain for an innovative nuclear project".

North West

GBPVery Competitive Interim Rate (Dependent Upon Experience)

Buyers come in all shapes and sizes-from buying stock for a retail shop to sourcing components for a large-scale manufacturing operation.

All buying roles have a niche element and particularly in the nuclear industry. Our client is a key player in the UK nuclear engineering sector and is in the early stages of a new project.

As such, they need an experienced buyer to join their team and create supply relationships with key contractors.

Initially, they need to partner with design companies to arrange the supply of professional design services for the project to take it through to manufacture. As the senior buyer, you'll be required to work closely with the in-house product design and development team to source these suppliers and manage the tendering process.

When the contracts are awarded, you'll then create contract review processes to manage the supplier relationship.

Ultimately, our client's vision is to bring a new product to market which will be continually manufactured. As the project grows, you will need to bring other people into your procurement team to manage the day-to-day activities while your focus changes to creating the long-term supply chain strategy for the final assembly.

As for your background, our client anticipates that you will be a degree-qualified, strategic category and procurement management professional. Your previous experience will include working within a highly regulated industry such as nuclear, oil and gas, aerospace, or petrochemical.

Ideally, you will have worked with fuel assembly systems, precision engineering, and automated process technology. However, as a minimum, you'll need to be familiar with how complex engineering projects are created and the various purchasing challenges faced with a new product development process.

Initially, our client is offering an 18-month contract for this position, but they expect the project to last 2-5 years before reaching maturity.
