Our client based in the Gainsborough area are looking for a Buyer to join their busy team on a permanent basis.

Working in conjunction with the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer will be responsible for the scheduling, tendering, negotiation, evaluation and performance monitoring of a wide range of service/maintenance contracts, examples of which include utility contracts and service/maintenance contracts for buildings and equipment. In addition, there will be specific buying responsibility for a selection of consumable products used within our production facility.

Key responsibilities:
• Maintain the contract renewal schedule to ensure the management of the contracts are carried
out in a timely manner.
• Responsible for the preparation and negotiation of tenders.
• Responsible for the full evaluation of quotations, in conjunction with the respective Manager.
• Effective evaluation/analysis of quotations and subsequent proposals to Senior Management to enable timely decision making.
• Responsible for maintaining up-to-date and accurate contract records.
• Work in conjunction with other departments to create, evaluate and maintain the Approved Contractors file.
• In conjunction with the Maintenance and Health and Safety Managers, further develop and improve the criteria to determine best practice for managing contractors.
• Responsible for maintaining inventory levels for an assigned range of consumable products.
• Ensuring the timely and accurate placing of purchase orders with suppliers.
• Ensure regular reviews of our suppliers to cover service level agreements, KPI's, cost monitoring and any other improvements.
• Monitor vendors to ensure adherence/compliance to established terms and conditions.
• Other tasks and responsibilities that may be assigned by the Purchasing Manager.

Essential qualifications and experience:
• Minimum of 2-3 years procurement experience.
• Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
• Sound mathematical ability.

Personal qualities:
• Must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Detail-oriented.
• Proficient in the use of MS Excel spreadsheets.
• A broad-minded thinker with the ability to investigate and challenge information presented to them.
• Ability to organise, schedule and prioritise a variety of tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
