Flow Systems Manager - North West Hub WARRINGTON

We have a very exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a Flow Systems Manager at our North West Hub in Warrington, helping us to continue to improve and deliver the best service.

As part of our future strategy, Royal Mail is creating a network of new and exciting automated Parcel Hubs, the first of which will become operational in Summer 2022 in Warrington.  These new Hubs will be world-class; providing state-of-the-art automation sortation solutions helping us to ensure we continue to excel at providing a great service to all our customers and the communities we deliver to. We are looking for passionate, motivated and experienced Flow Room managers who are looking for a new challenge to join the Hub leadership team and be part of our future.  You will play an instrumental part in the fast pace environment of the new Hub, managing and leading our Hub teams to build trusted relationships and delivering a world class automated operation with the capability to process 40,000 parcels an hour. 

We have an exciting opportunity for experienced Flow Systems Managers to join us at our flagship North West Hub in Warrington and be a key part of this amazing transformation. 

About The Role 

Working in the heartbeat of the operation, the team of flow room system managers will be responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of parcels through the automated parcel sorting system (APSS) using the warehouse management systems (WMS), CCTV and YMS so that operational KPIs and business SLAs are achieved. The role holder will be the conduit between warehouse operations and the engineering team, co-ordinating engineers to faults and blockages, maximising the APSS availability though coordinating and leading Continuous Improvement activities with senior stakeholders. 

As an experienced leader, you’ll effectively manage Flow Room employees, reviewing daily/weekly workflow templates to ensure optimal efficiency, and validating the daily/weekly plans so they’re coordinated and adhered to, understanding why any gaps exist and recommending steps to address them as appropriate. This will include liaising with, and escalating to, the Senior Hub Management team current and future risks to service and performance.

What skills and experience are we looking for?

  •   Experience of working in a flow / control room environment or an automated processing facility 
  •  Strong data analytic skills
  •  Experience of designing and maintaining system and flow/control room processes
  •  Experience working with SCADA & WMS  
  •  Strong Excel & Microsoft skills
  •  Ability to translate technical information to a non technical audience 
  •  Good understanding of C.I principles 
  •  Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced automated environment
  •  Adaptable and receptive to new ideas from any source.  Willing and able to adjust to changing demands and circumstances.
  •  Skilled and intuitive in identifying solutions to problems.  Uses the expertise, skills and experience of others as appropriate
  •  Independent, self-reliant, enthusiastic, and determined.  The job holder will need to demonstrate tenacity and the capacity for sustained effort and hard work over extended periods
  • Proven leadership experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing a team of skilled managers in a Flow Room logistics environment
  • Team management, including the management of teams that operate 24/7

Shift patterns: We are currently recruiting for roles which will rotate across both the day and night shift working 7 days across each 14 day period however a degree of flexibility will be required initially to enable training/upskilling to take place.
