Buyer
We are recruiting for a Buyer / Senior Buyer for a very successful and continually expanding electronics manufacturing company based in Basildon, Essex. As a Buyer you will be working as part of a small team of buyers. This role will be responsible for supporting the costing activities for new quotes in order to provide accurate information to be used for ordering in the future.
As a Buyer you will be required to have a great knowledge of purchasing ideally within electronics and/or manufacturing sector. You will be an integral part of a busy purchasing team by supporting an increasingly high volume of quoting activity in order to free up other team members to focus on new product introduction and day to day production buying.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop close working relationship with other key functions (Production, engineering and sales) in the company to support commercial negotiations for new projects
* Solicit and negotiate supplier price, lead time and delivery quotations
* Analyse complex data for multiple components and reach decisions on the best purchasing options
* Use the MRP system, Factory Master, to support purchasing and quoting activities
* Provide additional support to the wider team in the day to day buying and purchasing activities of the team in times of high workload or absence
* Provide general support to the purchasing manager as required
Qualifications, Skills and Education Requirements
* Previous knowledge and experience in a similar role is essential
* Minimum of 5 years relevant experience
* Experience of working for a Contract Electronics Manufacturer (CEM) would be a definite benefit
* Knowledge and experience in the use of an MRP system such as Factory Master
* Excellent organisational and planning skills
* Strong numerical and analytical skills using Excel and databases
* Problem solving and strong initiative to think laterally and find solutions
* Excellent communication skills and experience liaising with suppliers and internal / external customers
