Senior Buyer

I am recruiting a Senior Buyer for a local engineering company who are part of a larger, global group. This business are growing rapidly and this is an unmissable opportunity for a Senior Buyer to come in and build their own department and team.
The business specialize in bespoke, one-off products which serve into projects alongside several well-renowned global manufacturers. The staff are enthusiastic and the business are currently experiencing year on year growth of 50% so this is a fantastic time to secure a position that could lead to a group level role in future.
This is a new role in the business so day to day activities will fall down to the successful candidate but will include:
* Manage the portfolio of suppliers to maximise cost down opportunities, increase supply efficiency and support manufacturing build programmes.
* Create purchase orders, communicate those orders to suppliers and ensure OTDIF is maintained.
* Work within a framework of targets and KPIs including savings via PPV mechanism, effectiveness and efficiency in delivery.
* Monitor both the level of service and the quality of products received.
* Lead and participate in contract negotiations.
* Participate in improvement projects aimed at reducing costs, inventory reduction, lead-time reduction and improving quality.
* Execution of sourcing plans, especially implementation of change programs involving new suppliers or spend practice.
* Lead the setting up of SLAs and supplier agreements.
* Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
* Communicate effectively with other members of the senior management team to manage expectations and provide a positive internal customer experience.
Essential Requirements:
* Manufacturing/Engineering experience, preferably in Steel or Sheet Metal.
* A Proactive and Energetic personality with the drive to take the department and business forward.
* Able to demonstrate proven cost savings and strong commercial acumen.
My client is keen to get someone started in the role soon and can carry out interview within a few days. The salary on offer is GBP35k-GBP40k and will be dependent on experience. Additional package includes 25 days holiday, contributory pension scheme (6% matched), Life Assurance 3x annual salary and a discretionary bonus and profit related bonus, paid annually.
Working hours will be 37.5 hours, Flexible on Monday-Thursday around 8:30am-5pm and a lunchtime finish on Friday.
