Salary: Basic up to GBP60,000 plus Package

Company Summary:

Our client is a joint venture that brings together international, market leading expertise from four leading civil engineering and construction companies. All four partners have specialist expertise in the design, construction, operation, financing, and maintenance of railway networks, including the construction of one of Europe's latest high speed rail projects.

We are currently looking for a Buyer, this will include the procurement of materials, plant hire and subcontract packages. You will be responsible for supporting the Procurement Manager for a section of works managing the tender, award and recommendation of works packages and orders.

We are ideally looking for someone who has previously worked on a construction project; however, this is not essential. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate capability in managing the process cradle to grave and have excellent stakeholder management skills.

As part of clients commitment to upskilling procurement professionals, you will either hold or work towards the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS)

Position Summary

  • Skilled communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally.
  • Proven analytical, problem solving and organisational skills.
  • Strong planning skills with the ability to handle multiple projects through to completion and to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent organisational skills attention to detail.
  • Ensure that all communication/negotiations/interactions with the supply chain are carried out in the spirit of our values and Procurement & Supply Chain vision
  • Always carry out procurement to the highest ethical standard
  • Ensuring that procurement exercises are made against value-based procurement decisions, as opposed to purely lowest cost
  • To ensure that internal stakeholders are engaged in the process throughout and endorse any recommendations
  • To prepare and deliver internal presentations to key stakeholders articulating package strategies and award recommendations
  • To ensure that capacity of the market is fully considered during the tendering process
