We have a fantastic opportunity for a Category Buyer to join our Procurement team supporting our Highways & Local Government contracts. The role can be based either in our H/O in London Waterloo or in Welwyn Garden City Office.

Some of the main duties and responsibilities of the Category Buyer will include:

Outsource, tender and negotiation:

Key Category Management analysis to enable to carry out tenders efficiently and develop expertise on the dedicated categories (by following the 7 key steps of Category Management)

Preparing tenders for standard contracts with suppliers / subcontractors

Developing tender analysis and presenting reports and recommendations to senior management

Negotiating with suppliers/subcontractors the terms and conditions, rates and service provided

Roll out solutions developed as a result of the Key Category Management process

Support the ambitions of the Bouygues E&S CSR Charter and Carbon Reduction strategies

Supplier and subcontractor management:

Carrying out reviews with suppliers and subcontractors on their performance and monitoring it

Ensuring a service delivery of suppliers / subcontractors in line with our negotiated contracts

Encouraging on-going innovation and efficiency throughout our supply

Rationalising the supplier base and developing stronger purchasing leverage over key suppliers/Subcontractors through the negotiation of supply agreements

Developing a supply chain for refurbishment jobs/project related services

Providing procurement advice:

Providing Procurement advice to the wider Procurement, Operations & Project teams relating to their Category ownership

Assisting the Operation & Project teams with Procurement concerns raised by the Client relating to the suppliers delivering the category strategy

Providing training on company procurement procedures as and when required to other members of the team as well as operation & project teams

Management support:

Working with the Procurement Lead and Procurement Director to align the Procurement Strategy to the Business Strategy

Coaching / sharing knowledge with other members of the Procurement team

Providing reports as required and set out as objectives of the role

Presentation of key figures/projects to senior managers as and when required

The candidate will have the following skills, experience, and qualification:

Previous experience in supply chain management / category management

Knowledge of operational purchasing and supply practice, policies and procedures

Good level of numeracy with experience in cost analysis

Strong negotiation skills and proven experience of tendering and contracting practices

MCIPS qualifications (or working towards) is desirable

Previous experience in electrical services / highways procurement is highly beneficial
