The Company

Our client is currently looking for an experienced Senior Strategic Buyer to support the buyer regarding supplier performance management by providing escalation assistance and issue resolution for their associated team's categories. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing strong and robust supply chains supporting the operation, ensuring close working relationships with all internal customers. Providing a collaborative environment to drive the business is essential to continued growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who will meet important Procurement milestones, can hit the ground running and work as a self-starter who embraces a teamworking mindset in an established organisation.

The successful candidate will have:-

  • A good level of technical experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • A good understanding of how to optimise the supply base adding strength, responsiveness and flexibility to core suppliers.
  • Extensive experience in a Procurement function supporting a busy manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of evaluating outsourcing projects and value engineering / value added projects.
  • A good level of computer literate skills.
  • The skill to manage time as effectively as possible, constantly reassessing priorities throughout the day.
  • A knowledge of SAP, which is desirable.
  • A thorough understanding of 'Request for Price' tendering.
  • Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to analyse supply chain situations as they arise, confident to analyse and interpret data to provide sound strategic thinking.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • An organised and methodical approach to working.
  • The ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience with sourcing for New product Development, A & D, resourcing, outsourcing and Continuous Improvement Projects.
  • A teamwork mindset.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Full supplier management covering all aspects of supply across your assigned portfolio, this will include savings within your commodity and lead time reduction along with improving supplier on-time delivery targets.
  • Play an important role representing Procurement in New Product Development meetings providing a supply chain service and will be a point of contact on key projects.
  • Cost down implementation and driving through opportunities.
  • Contact suppliers and resolving high level issues regarding price, quality, delivery or payment.
  • To ensure continuous supply of parts with your dedicated commodity.
  • Create / Negotiate Contracts and Terms of business with suppliers.
  • Set-up /review Supplier Agreements undertake scorecard reviews of key suppliers in line with audit strategy and manage performance improvement activities.
  • Manage / support implementation of engineering change requests of parts affecting suppliers in your commodity.
  • Develop commodity strategies to improve operational and logistical efficiency, always seeking to add value and drive cost away from the supply chain.
  • Prepare / instigate RFQ packs and analyse offers received.
  • Provide reports when required by the business.
  • Research the market / industry sector, most closely associated with your dedicated commodity, conduct research, report back to the business and develop strategies, evaluating new and existing suppliers.
  • Creating and implementing a supply chain strategy across an allocated commodity which supports the business needs on cost, quality, on-time delivery and new product introduction.
  • Actively manage supplier portfolio, supporting the requirements of the Clevedon facility on lead time reduction, mitigating risk to seeking ways to continuously improve.
  • Manage allocated NPI and A&D projects to meet customer specification.
  • Achieve cost reduction targets.
  • Identify outsourcing opportunities where there is cost / efficiency savings compared to in-house manufacture.
  • Able to deal with customers, external and internal to a high standard.
  • Complying with confidentiality & data protection, safeguarding Edwards Ltd. and the Supply Chain.

The successful candidate will be expected to travel nationally and overseas from time to time.
