Role

As a Buyer you will ensure delivery of a sustainable supply chain to support the programmes you are aligned to. Working within the defined processes and procedure, you will protect the commercial and financial interests of the company whilst ensuring that customer needs are met. You will work with the other members of the team to improve optimisation of spend, collaboration with 3rd parties and developing ways of working through continuous improvement exercises and operation delivery such as demand forecasting, PO management, materials sourcing, scheduling and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

Accountable for meeting programme schedule and budget commitments through supplier management including;
Working with the programme, identifying suppliers for 3rd party programme items and services.
Carrying out competitive exercises to maintain on-time delivery to programme at best value with support from senior team mates where appropriate.
Flow down of appropriate customer terms and conditions
Support positive and mutually beneficial supplier relationships
Manage supplier price and availability, including alternative sources, in line with programme needs.
Highlight and/or escalate, in a timely fashion, any supplier delinquency that affects the programme delivery schedule.
Carry out supplier performance measurement activities as required in our procedures including;
Undertake reviews of the key partners (bi-annually as a min).
Working with Mission Assurance and others, monitor supplier performance, such as OTIF, quality, management and values.
Report performance measures and areas of improvement where appropriate.
Carry out other ad-hoc tasks that may reasonably be required

Competency/Skill requirements

Understanding of how supply chain operates within an organisation
Purchase order drafting
Understanding of contract/subcontract law and management
Capable of identifying issues and supporting the development of resolution.
Organised, adept at workload management and prioritising appropriately to meet deadlines
Flexible and responsive to changing priorities
Proactive team worker, equally self-motivated and able to work autonomously
Good interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with all audiences/stakeholders
Proficient user of MS office
Competent in PowerPoint and face-to-face presentation delivery
Fluent in written and spoken English
Strong customer focus
Engaging 'can do' attitude
Clearance requirements Post-holder must hold and maintain UK Government clearances where required

Preferred qualifications / experience

Export/import control including knowledge of ITAR
