JOB DESCRIPTION:

Your Mission:

As part of their growth plans, our client has an exciting opening for an experienced and highly-motivated Procurement Leader (preferably with electronics/PCB bias experience) to implement strategic and operational level purchasing support within a progressive future-focussed Global Technology and Manufacturing organisation.

Reporting to; and working closely alongside the Supply Chain Manager you will work with internal functional teams and external suppliers to procure materials and services; plus develop and implement efficient and reliable supply chain results and practices - in several key areas:

1. Management of a number of key suppliers/commodities based across the world.

2. Responsibility for achieving material productivity targets.

3. Support R&D in sourcing direct material for NPI (New Product Introduction).

4. Manage NPP (New Product Procurement) spend for the site across a number of key supply portfolios.

5. Management of the annual 'cost-down' programme.

Your Responsibilities:

Procurement & Purchasing

* Support the Supply Chain Manager and across Global Purchasing Groups in data preparation; projects and activities relating to the group purchasing of components, raw materials and services.

* Manage the negotiation of prices and supply for specific supply portfolios, including PCBa, incorporating cost downs from parts productivity targets.

* Develop sourcing strategies, as required/directed, in areas of designated responsibility. Provide operational support in the procurement and management of all indirect purchase areas including services and capital.

R&D and Product Development Support

* Support a range of R&D New Product Development (NPI) projects requiring materials input. Support specification changes to materials and components as driven by new product development across multiple functional teams within the business. Be a key member of the Product development Project team(s).

* Support identification of new/existing suppliers and material to support the NPI product road map.

Cost Savings

* Identify opportunities for material/component cost savings from across the business and manage these via an annual 'cost-down' programme.

* Qualify, project manage and deliver material cost savings within the business and commodity areas of ownership responsibility.

Budget & Costs Management

* Assist in the estimation of costing of NPI by providing best prices for direct material.

* Manage direct and indirect spend within the business, support all departments to ensure compliance with process and requirements. Monitor and liaise with business Commercial teams on variations to the material / component costs as agreed / targeted.

Supplier Management

* Develop relationships with the suppliers within the assigned portfolio, ensuring quality, delivery and cost requirements are fully met.

* Conduct regular, scheduled supplier reviews as determined by A, B, C categorization of supplier.

Obsolescence Management

* Monitor EoL (End of Life) status for electronic components and provide replacement identification as and when required.

Resources & Planning

* Support the procurement / planning team to ensure the correct timing and accurate supply of Purchased parts within the business.

* Develop annual material productivity plans & targets with input from operational/support functions. Manage action plans for material / component transfers across sites / suppliers.

Contracts & Commercial

* Lead negotiations with suppliers on the supply of new components/materials and ensure all necessary contractual aspects are in place. Ensure the set-up and application of terms; including the pricing of purchased component parts as procured within the business.

Teamwork

* Act as leader and mentor to junior team members. Participate in company objectives for lean business, diversity, Anti- Slavery, Plastics & Waste Reduction.

Reporting

* Issue and present monthly reporting on material productivity and procurement performance and develop year end forecasts.

About you:

Essential:

* Minimum 7 years' in a Purchasing role within a manufacturing organisation (ideally electronics, PCBa, electro-mechanical products).

* Proven experience in a Senior purchasing role (2 years +) within a manufacturing / technology environment with desire and capability to progress in the Procurement function.

* Experience sourcing for NPI and product development, working with a number of stakeholders. Experience with producing capex proposals and supplier assessments/visit reports.

* Commercial procurement awareness/contract negotiation and wider supply chain and operational experience necessary, dealing with suppliers worldwide.

* Usage and understanding of ERP/MRP systems. (Ideally knowledge of SAP, PLEX).

* Self-starter, capable of managing own time/priorities but also able to work well in a tight knit team. Outstanding and well-developed communication and negotiation skills - both written & oral. Attention to detail.

* Skilled user of the Microsoft suite of tools, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

* Professional CIPS level qualification
