Garrett Green are representing a leading manufacturing company in Plymouth, who are centred around the marine industry who are looking for two Category Buyers. They are market leaders in their field and are also attributed to marine conservation projects as well, so this is a fantastic opportunity for a Buyer to join an exciting company who are also doing what they can for preserving the oceans.
This role is specifically focusing on direct categories, so they are looking for a strong Buyer or Category Buyer, who has experience working in a Manufacturing environment on direct commodities.
The aim:
To take ownership of your assigned group of commodities and related suppliers, driving continuous improvement and cost savings wherever possible. You will be using your supplier management experience to create robust relationships ensuring a smooth supply of inventory through to the production lines. You will also be embarking on NPI projects, sourcing suitable suppliers and working closely with design teams to ensure budgeted costs are adhered to, whilst maintaining exceptional quality.
What you will be doing:
Analysis of commodity and market pricing analysis of raw material fluctuations.
Supplier negotiation and strategic sourcing activities.
Managing waste and obsolescence.
Managing contract terms, supply base and monitor supplier performance using continuous improvement metrics.
Construction and negotiation of supply contracts with external suppliers.
Making sure production supply is optimised for inventory and production schedule run as planned.
Managing suppliers to ensure smooth flow of inventory, as well as running supplier performance reviews.
Working with design teams to ensure that NPI processes are supported.What you will need:
At least 2+ years procurement experience.
Manufacturing or FMCG industry experience.
CIPS or working towards (not essential)
Computer literate in Microsoft applications including Work and Excel
ERP/MRP experienceSalary:
Up to GBP35,000
What they offer:
39 hours - 7:30am - 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 7:30am to 12:30pm on a Friday
