Salary: GBP25,000 to GBP28,000

Location: Scunthorpe

OVERVIEW:

They are now seeking an experienced Materials Planner/Buyer to join their diverse friendly and professional team in Scunthorpe on a permanent basis. You will be joining a company who is growing and on a mission of preserving food and the planet by offering high quality, eco-friendly products to their customers.

THE ROLE:
You will be responsible for processing purchase requisitions generated by the Production Operations Team and converting those requisitions into Purchase Orders for the purpose of procuring raw materials and components to fulfil the Site Production plan.

The Materials Planner/Buyer will be responsible for monitoring purchase order tracking systems, alerting the relevant teams when orders have been filled and invoices from vendors have been issued or alternatively, where materials have not been received. The Materials Planner/Buyer will be expected to source suppliers, evaluate the supply process and make short-term procurement decisions.

Key responsibilities:
Responsible for the procurement of goods and services to support the business.
Responsible for the management of the inventory across key categories to maintain consistency of supply to relevant departments.
Working with the Warehousing Team, support the receipt of purchased materials and services and keep detailed records of purchases and stocks.
Build relationships with suppliers and manage their performance.
Support Supplier compliance by liaising with the Quality Team to evaluate & monitor Suppliers.
Work closely with the Manufacturing team and to understand forward planning of materials.
Identify cost savings by research into specific material categories and provide information to the Operations Manager detailing supply proposals.
Support the Operations Meeting by providing and updating information relating to supply threats and opportunities.
Managing and responding to general queries relating to purchase of materials, suppliers and transport processes.
Any other Planner/Buyer responsibilities generated through the needs of the business.

Hours of work: Mon-Fri 09:00-17:00

THE CANDIDATE:
Proactive, with good problem-solving skills, able to make decisions independently.
Exceptional customer service - both internally & externally.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
Experience of Purchasing, Supply Chain and Finance.
Familiar with ERP/MRP Systems.
Awareness of Supplier Management techniques & KPIs.

THE COMPANY:
Salary GBP25,000 to GBP28,000 dependant on experience.
