Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager/Accountant, responsible for the procurement of all materials and all external plant hire in accordance with The Costain Way, Standards, Policies and Procedures

Key Responsibilities: Timely procurement of materials, external plant hire and equipment to suit the needs and demand of the project and to ensure continuity of the works in accordance with the The Costain Way and project specific procurement processes Maintaining positive relationships with all stakeholders involved in the procurement process Produce accurate and logical quotation comparisons to demonstrate best value Conduct supplier meetings and negotiations where required for material or external plant hire Produce recommendations for the scheme and ensure internal approvals are applicable, prior to placing orders. Completion of all purchase orders, hires and off hires on E1 for material, plant and equipment, including issue of purchase/hire orders Administration and maintenance of all documentation associated with the Costain procurement processes Represent procurement department at meetings Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve order/invoice queries Maintain the use of Key supply frameworks Complete quarterly supply chain performance reviews for material and plant suppliers Provide support to develop individuals within the transactional procurement team Work with the Costain supply chain manager to improve levels of performance of the supply chain Work efficiently and professionally during periods of pressure Ensure all transactional procurement activity is carried out in accordance with the Costain Sustainable Procurement Policy. Understand the Client and Partnerships Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company's operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project.

Essential: Previous experience of material and plant buying on major projects Demonstrable network of contacts in the UK materials and plant supply chain network Experience of working on infrastructure projects

Desirable: Working towards MCIPS qualification Demonstrable negotiating skills and securing regular discounts Excellent communicator and influencer with ability to build effective relationships Experience of working on major civil engineering or rail projects Experience of working in contracting organisations delivering infrastructure projects
