Warwick

£36,922 - £38,890 per annum

Ref: RA0002821

Make a wide-ranging impact in the most diverse category management role you’ll ever do.

Who we are

Here at Warwickshire County Council, our commitment to caring for our residents is underpinned by a highly commercial approach. That’s where you come in. We’ve created a different approach to category management. One that you’re sure to find more interesting and rewarding than opportunities elsewhere, because of the much wider remit you’ll enjoy here. This is a post that offers you rare variety in your day to day role, with room to grow and opportunities to add many different achievements to your CV.

A varied role that makes a lot of differences

At Warwickshire, we love to innovate. That’s why, as a Category Specialist, you’ll enjoy a wider remit than you might expect from a typical category management role. Here you’ll develop, deliver, manage and maintain a range of innovative and effective commercial solutions. You’ll optimise service delivery options available to us, while delivering ongoing efficiencies. And you’ll do so across diverse areas of expenditure.

From leading and managing procurement related projects and programmes, through to investigating sources of supply, conducting tenders and monitoring supplier performance, the range of areas you touch means you’ll constantly be learning, developing and making an impact. As well as growing your potential for career development, you’ll forge great relationships with an array of service leads, suppliers and partners.

What we’re looking for

To thrive here, you’ll need proven public sector and commercial nous. You’ll bring to the role a track record of leading and managing procurement related projects in a multi-functional organisation. With experience across every aspect of the procurement cycle, you can really demonstrate the value added by effective procurement. You’re a great communicator with the ability to build influential relationships. You’re a collaborative colleague with a ‘can-do’ attitude. And you bring real creative flair to problem solving.

Your rewards

Success here will mean we’re able to provide a better quality of life for our 550,000+ residents – not to mention the businesses investing in our ever-growing commercial and cultural scene.

Join us, and in addition to the rewards of the job itself, you can look forward to a generous holiday allowance and participation in the Local Government contributory pension scheme.
