Our client is an established household retail name who operate across several Global locations and are going through some exciting growth with further store openings planned shortly. They have an opening for a Buying Manager across food and non-food products to join them and lead the commercial buying team within Germany and shape the commercial strategy to continue to grow the business in Germany at this exciting time.

This is a great opportunity to use your experience and act independently, making astute business decisions, review and change current offerings and practice and drive this current growth opportunity, our client offers further growth opportunities and put their staff and customer first!

• Define and deliver a localised commercial strategy to maximise the sales potential across the German businesses.

• Interact with senior management to align local strategy with the global position, to present the best customer offering for the customer.

• Generate and deliver profitable product and promotional strategies in line with the overall strategy.

• Manage the regular review and rationalising of the range, to react to market trends and manage stock levels accordingly.

• Responsible for the management of the local ordering of stock in line with forecasted demand and maximum forward stock holding requirements.

• Manage Trading performance and supplier performance

• Manage a small buying team

Buying Manager Requirements:

• Proven and impressive track record of Retail/FMCG buying is essential.

• Strong commercial skills and market interpretation

• Excellent negotiation skills

• Understanding of P&L management

• Fluent German and English are essential

• Account management skills and experience of working with large and small suppliers

• Exceptional analytical skills and ability to use data to drive business decisions

• Engaging and influential communication skills

• Remains calm under pressure and used to a fast -paced working environment

This role offers flexible working however you will need to spend time in the North-Rhine Westphalia region as well as visiting suppliers across Germany, so in return our client offers an excellent salary with car allowance and strong annual bonus based on personal performance and results.
