Distribution Manager

Haddenham

Under general supervision of the EMEA Distribution Director, provides general direction for the 3PL warehousing activities at McCormick (mainly in UK) associated with shipping, receiving, warehousing, order selection, display production and inventory management. (S)he provides oversight of value-added services operation while ensuring ongoing safety, quality performance goals are achieved.

Scheduling to ensure cost effective use of packing and storage capacity levels are optimal within the warehouse space and productions areas while maintain relationships and contract negotiations. Plans for continuous improvement and creates new and innovative strategies necessary to consistently meet our customer's and company expectations. Responsible for budget activities to include purchase order creations and management for all cost centres within the 3PL network. Serves as a liaison to business units/functional areas and business partners as it pertains to all 3PL activities. Ensures supply planning, customer service, sales/marketing, purchasing, property management are connected and aligned with all 3PL activities, goals and results.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitors all key performance indicators and is responsible for developing action plans to meet targets. Meet or exceed distribution goals for customer service, cost, quality, safety and sanitation. Provide for continuous operations improvement to include: Cost per unit shipped, safety, sanitation, accuracy of deliveries/records/reports, quality measurements, operational efficiencies, production & cultural development.
  • Establishes procedures, standards, and controls in 3PL areas. Ensures completion of all schedules (inbound, outbound and production).
  • Responsible for the Capital plan including budget, forecast, timing of spend and successful completion of all projects; lead cost optimization savings projects as assigned or within 3PL environment.
  • Understands the key cost drivers for the Distribution total cost and provides this knowledge to support procurement strategies which deliver the best total costs and service solutions.
  • Works with Commercial teams and Customers to understand logistics opportunities and needs.
  • Ensures 3PL and Logistics liaison for McCormick Mc Information Technology (IT) solutions team for all systems changes and upgrades. Responsible to ensuring 3PL and McIT solutions are connected and business activities are in designed working order with the over IT solution.
  • Ensures schedule of production and warehouse activities are aligned to achieve customer’s order requirements; also liaison with the McCormick plants and co-packers and other vendors for all 3PL activities. Plans for short, medium, and long term capacity planning to ensure ability to meet future growth requirements of the business. Maintains formalized, documented inventory management systems including stock control accuracy and adjustment. Ensures all McCormick QA processes and systems are maintained within 3PL operation.
  • Formulates strategic direction with 3PL partner and provides feedback while developing plans with 3PL partner to ensure continuity of work and total system reliability. Supports safety and sanitation initiatives to ensure all operational areas are meeting McCormick standards. Establishes appropriate operational standards and ensures the 3PL has daily operations controls by ensuring compliance to specifications for all documented protocols. Provides necessary support and direction to 3PL to ensure safety and sanitation objectives are met.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, logistics business or related field desirable.
  • Significant Warehouse Management or Logistics experience required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft package, WM Systems and ERP Systems.
  • SAP knowledge preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated an understanding of the financial impact of business decisions on staffing, inventory, customers and overall business cost.
  • Strong negotiation, training, interpersonal and overall leadership skills.
