Who are we looking for?

As a Procurement Manager, you will be joining an inclusive and supportive environment involved in a wide variety of projects ranging from Robotics, Materials Testing, Facilities Management, Construction, Research & Development, tritium processing and fusion technologies. If you have strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to influence and negotiate at the highest levels with suppliers and you are able to work as a part of a team and have experience of public sector procurement and knowledge of OJEU, then this vacancy might be the perfect opportunity for you.

What will you be responsible for?

- Delivering procurement assistance to enable the delivery of major projects within the time parameters to meet project milestones and targets, collaborating with others to define the project scope, taking into account Public Contract Regulations 2015

- Managing pre-qualifying contractors and subsequent interviewing tenderers, assessing tenders and negotiating contracts as required

- Managing, monitoring and controlling contractual progress of projects in terms of adherence to contract terms, taking into account time, cost and quality

- Identifying opportunities for improvements and propose solutions in order to contribute to continuous improvement within UKAEA. Make final recommendations for the development of new solutions

- Assisting with creation, application and implementation of procurement strategies for the site

- Providing commercial advice to line and senior management within UKAEA and to participate in specific initiatives where appropriate

- Providing procurement leadership in large or complex projects. Understand, influence, drive and negotiate with internal and external customers, suppliers and colleagues

Essential skills, experience and competence required

  • Ideally MCIPS qualified but will consider candidates who are working toward MCIPS if they can demonstrate relevant experience
  • Experience of public sector procurement and knowledge of OJEU
  • A good technical appreciation of the range of procurement categories
  • Good procurement strategic knowledge and experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Commercially astute and customer focused
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to influence at senior levels

Desirable Experience

- Understanding of NEC form of contract
